Narberth Civic board members (L-R) Jim Speer, Georgette DuBois and Deborah Lonsdorf weeded Sabine Park on 10.10.10.

The Narberth Civic Association, organizer of The Narberth Clean Sweep, looks forward to a day of community effort as residents, including parents, kids, and Scout troops join in beautifying downtown Narberth. They'll be cleaning up trash, separating out misguided recyclables, getting rid of weeds and creating a place which families can enjoy even more.

We welcome local volunteers and groups to join us, says Deborah Lonsdorf, one of the event organizers. The cleanup crew will meet at 10:00 am at the train station circle on Haverford avenue in downtown Narberth. After a day of work, participants can look forward to pizza to celebrate a job well done.

We're very pleased that in Narberth we can now recycle plastics numbered 1 through 7, and we have a number of solar-powered trash compactors dotted around the borough. Lonsdorf notes. On Saturday May 26th, we'll have a table downtown with information detailing our recycling guidelines. We'll also be selling organic cotton bags created by the Narberth Civic Association to encourage folks to bring their own bags when shopping.
